KIIT, KISS, OSJA join hands to stage SJFI Convention

OSJA members with some of the outstanding sports achievers of KISS in Bhubaneswar on July 2, 2016.

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) joined hands with Odisha Sports Journalists’ Association (OSJA) for a successful staging of the 39th National Convention of Sports Journalist Federation of India (SJFI) here at KIIT University campus this year from September 14 to 18.

The coming together of the three organisations took place on the auspicious occasion World Sports Journalists Day at KIIT University Conference Hall here today. In a modest function, which was organised by OSJA to observe the World Sports Journalists Day, KIIT and KIIS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta reiterated his commitment to provide wholehearted support to make the SJFI National Convention a grand success.

We at KIIT and KISS give equal importance to both academics and sports. We are fully prepared to stage the World Junior Chess Championship in August and the SJFI National Convention the following month in style,’’ said Dr Samant after inaugurating the World Sports Journalists Day function.

Members of OSJA thanked Dr Samant for developing international standard sports infrastructure in KIIT. The infrastructure facilities include one cricket stadium and 12 multi-discipline hubs, each equipped with swimming pool and fitness centre. OSJA members were of the opinion that the infrastructure facility at KIIT was better than that of many states.

The function concluded with promising sports talents of KISS describing their national and international achievements and OSJA members seeking their support and cooperation for the successful staging of the SJFI National Convention.

OSJA president K Ravi, working president Sanatan Pani, vice-president Umakant Mishra, secretary Suresh Swain, joint-secretaries Sambit Mohapatra, Debi Prasan Mohanty; treasurer Himanshu Patimishra, executive members Samikshya Patnaik, Debasis Sundaray, Sarbeswar Mohanty; KIIT Senior PRO Sradhanjali Nayak and Sports Director Dr Gaganendu Dash were present on the occasion.
